District News

PowerSchool Student Information System:
Parents and guardians, you will be extremely happy to know that we have REDUCED the number of forms that are required to be completed for each of our students this year!  We are asking ALL of our families to complete this information for your child(ren) by logging onto your PowerSchool account and accessing the General Forms for your student(s).

Please note that most of the information is pre-filled, however after confirming or updating the information, each of the 3 forms MUST BE SUBMITTED.  The Permissions/Agreements/Questions form asks for an updated date of submission, so please be certain to update that as well before hitting SUBMIT.

If you do not have a PowerSchool Account, please see the directions linked here and contact the school’s main office or the Community Relations Office 610-847-5131, ext. 2401 or 4102 for your child(ren)’s Access ID(s) and Access Password(s).  Once it is created, you will be able to access other important information (like bus info and grades at the secondary level) on PowerSchool for your student(s).

Greetings from Mrs. Heilig-Trexler, Science Teacher at PALMS:

Welcome back to a new school year. I am looking for a new home for the three rats who lived in my classroom last year. This link takes you to pictures and a brief description:  Rat Information

I would really like to have someone from the Palisades Community or someone known by them to adopt them as pets, as my concern is someone getting them to use as feeders.  Please share this with anyone who you think might be interested. There is no fee.

PCF Notecards

From PCF...Artwork Notecards...a One of a Kind Purchase:

Palisades Community Foundation is selling blank notecards with art by our own students from last spring’s Covered Bridge Event celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Knecht’s Bridge in Springfield.  These one of a kind images were done by students and the original pieces were on display in the high school’s art gallery as part of the celebration.  The pack of 15 blank cards are being sold as a fundraiser for Palisades Community Foundation for $15/pack.  Proceeds from the cards will go back to projects across the community.

2024 Palisades Area CROP Hunger Walk:

We invite the Palisades School District to participate in the 2024 Palisades Area CROP Hunger Walk, which helps to end hunger one step at a time. With your help, we will raise funds for hunger programs in the Palisades area and around the world.

The Crop Walk is an interfaith, community-oriented event that (1) raises funds to help hungry people, (2) raises awareness of hunger as an issue, (3) engages and trains volunteers for community service, and (4) brings together persons of many ages and backgrounds in a common endeavor. The local CROP Hunger Walk is being sponsored by the Palisades Area Lutheran Ministries with the intention to engage a broad cross-section of the community in service to the neediest of the world.

75% of the funds supports the global work of Church World Service (CWS) to empower local communities. CWS is an international humanitarian organization, transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger and poverty. displacement and disaster.

25%of the funds will be donated to Worthwhile Wear in Plumsteadville, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to reaching lives affected by human trafficking and restoring these survivors with a sense of belonging and worth. The road to healing requires a comprehensive response. It's not enough to offer a single solution, which is why Worthwhile Wear first engages survivors where they are, in our communities, then offers long-term stability, and finally provides them with opportunities for financial independence. This wraparound approach is how Worthwhile Wear offers the most comprehensive services to survivors of trafficking in the state of Pennsylvania.

For students who choose to participate as part of a community service requirement, we will provide a certificate to them to ensure they receive the proper credit.

Our goal for this year is to raise $3,000 with walkers! We need your support. There are several different ways the school district could choose to support this effort:

* Form a Team - Employees, customers / members.  If you would like to set up a team, contact me (below)  for help with setting up a team.

* Donate money directly to the walk.  To donate directly use the Link or QR codes below.

* Share  the enclosed flyer so students and their families are aware of the event.

For more information on the Walk, go to our web site:  Palisades Area Lutheran Ministries CROP Hunger Walk
