William Rodenbaugh

SAD TIME FOR OUR SPRINGFIELD FAMILY:

As you may know, this message went to our families and staff on Friday from Palisades Superintendent, Dr. O'Connell: "It is with great sadness that I am sharing with you the passing of long time Palisades School District custodian at Springfield Elementary School and friend to many, Bill Rodenbaugh. Bill was an employee in the district for the past 12 years.

Bill was Springfield Elementary School and the face of evening events. He was fun and had a wonderful sense of humor that would leave everyone he worked with laughing. He was a tremendous father figure to those he worked with and a true friend to all faculty and staff. Bill loved seeing the students at Springfield and did whatever he could to brighten their day.

Bill was a very caring husband to Alice Rodenbaugh, also an employee at Springfield Elementary School, and loving father. I would be remiss to not mention that he was also an avid Raiders fan! Springfield will not be the same without him."
A meal train has been set up for the family at Meal Train for Bill

SPECIAL THANKS TO TINICUM CIVIC ASSOCIATION:

Again this year, members of the Tinicum Civic Association (Tex Enoch and Dianna Sinovic), presented a check to each of our building principals from the high school, middle school and Tinicum Elementary school to purchase books for their libraries!  This is the 11th year that a generous donation was made to these schools' libraries (nearly $35,000 has been donated over the years).  We are grateful for the support of this organization.  For more information about the Tinicum Civic Association please visit their web site at http://tinicumcivicassociation.org/

We all look forward to the Tinicum Arts Festival being held in July, 2019!  Proceeds support our schools and many other non-profits in our area!

KUDOS TO THESE MUSIC STUDENTS!

Julia Costello

Julie Costello was selected by audition at the District 11 PMEA Festival to move onto the Regional Choir Competition from March 21st - March 23rd at Haverford HS.

Jamie Patterson

In another audition, Jaime Patterson was selected as one of 24 students from across the state to be a member of the All-State Jazz Choir at the PMEA All-State Conference to be held in Pittsburgh April 3-7. She had to send in a rigorous video audition and placed FIRST in her section! This is quite an accomplishment!

SHOUT OUT TO MRS. POORMAN AND THE CYBERSEEDS!

CyberSeeds is the First Lego League (FLL) robotics team at PALMS. The team consists of Joseph Zaleski, Michael Zaleski, Gabe Freeman, Gavin Lee, Gabby Musick, Kellen Kopp, Avere Winsor, Kaya Rutstein and coached by Mrs. Poorman. The Archbishop Wood HS Qualifier held on December 8 bestowed many recognitions on the team. The judging of core values, project (on space adaptive syndrome) and robot design went very well in the morning, Once the robot game started, the team scored to 2nd over a field of 24 teams. Judges also awarded the team the judge's award. This award is for "a team whose unique efforts, performance or dynamics merit recognition". The final award was to be granted advancement to the FLL Championships to be held this weekend at University of Pennsylvania. Championships is the qualifying competition to compete at Worlds, the FIRST global robots competition.

Field Hockey 2

Field Hockey 1
Pictured above: Angelina Day, Paige Kukowski, and Ava Moser.  Marojoka Hockey Club receiving their gold medals.

Last weekend three of Palisades field hockey players participated in the ESPN Disney College Showcase Tournament in Florida. Angelina Day was playing with her club field hockey team, FSC, and Paige Kukowski and Ava Moser were playing with their club team, Marojoka Field Hockey Club. All three girls represented Palisades and their club teams in excellent fashion by playing well and working hard! The Marojoka Field Hockey Team brought home the gold medal for their division!

Also……Paige Kukowski, Katelyn Shoemaker, and Sammie Trickel have all qualified with their winter club teams for the National Indoor Field Hockey tournament. Qualifying for a National tournament is not an easy thing to do and is a commendable accomplishment. Sammie Trickel plays as a U-16 for Mystix Force, Katelyn Shoemaker is a U-16 with the Marojoka Field hockey club, and Paige Kukowski is a U-19 with Marojoka Field Hockey club.

Join us in congratulating these girls on a job well done and we wish them luck in their future hockey endeavors!
