How to achieve highly qualified status

In some postings for instructional assistant positions, applicants must be highly qualified as defined by federal standards, which requires either two completed years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate's (or higher) degree, or PDE Highly Qualified certification.

Highly qualified (HQ) is defined as:

1. If you have 2 or more years of college credit, you are automatically HQ
2. If not, you need to complete the PATTAN Entry Level Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraprofessionals. First, you will need to create a PATTAN account. Then complete the seven competency training series.
