Officer Rex

Dear Palisades Community,

Palisades School District would like to welcome Officer Doug Rex to the district as our School Security Officer.  As you may know, House Bill 700 (signed into law in July, 2024) requires all school districts in the state of Pennsylvania “to have at least one full-time school security personnel on duty during each school day.”

Officer Rex is an employee of Cardinal Point Security Group and is hired to serve as our school security officer; he will be covering all five of our school locations starting Monday, December 9th.  He will be touring each of our schools next week, meeting students and staff, while observing our security procedures and learning about the protocols and systems we currently have in place.

Security Officer Douglass Rex began his career of public service in the United States Army. He served for five years as a soldier in the Third Infantry Division. Upon leaving the military, Doug served as police officer in the Doylestown Township Police Department. He later was accepted to the Pennsylvania State Police and graduated from the rigorous State Police Academy in Hershey, earning the title of State Trooper. Doug served at the Media and Dublin Barracks. Prior to coming to Palisades, Doug worked as an armed School Police Officer at the Northwestern Lehigh School District. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from DeSales University.

We are happy to have Officer Rex working with our administration, as well as local and state police, continuing to keep our students and staff safe and our buildings secure.  Hopefully you will have an opportunity to meet him over the upcoming weeks and months in the 2024-25 school year!  Welcome Officer Rex!

Regards,

Dr. Bridget O’Connell

Superintendent
